Getting Started

My Money Right uses Google Sign-In — no separate username or password is needed. Just click "Start Free in 60 Seconds" on the homepage and sign in with the Google account you want to use. That's it.

Your account is created automatically the first time you sign in. No email verification step, no form to fill out — you'll land directly on your dashboard.

Tip: Use the same Google account on every device to keep your data in sync across phone, tablet, and desktop.

If you later install the app to your home screen (see: Installing the app on your phone or desktop), sign in there with the same Google account and all your data will appear immediately.

My Money Right is free to start with no credit card required. Here's a breakdown of what each plan includes:

Free plan (always free):

  • Up to 3 bills and 3 debts
  • Manual transaction entry
  • Dashboard & budget tracking
  • Financial to-do list
  • Push notifications
  • Install as a mobile or desktop app (PWA)

Pro plan ($7/month, cancel any time):

  • Everything in Free, plus:
  • Unlimited bills & debts
  • Automatic bank sync (Teller)
  • CSV import
  • AI financial advisor (built-in — no extra API key needed)
  • AI monthly financial report (PDF)
  • Document vault & email-in (Correspondence)
  • Google Tasks two-way sync
  • Priority support
Good to know: You can upgrade from within the app at any time — go to Settings → Subscription and use the PayPal button. Your data carries over instantly.

My Money Right is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on any device and it behaves like a native app — no App Store required.

On iPhone (Safari):

  1. Open app.mymoneyright.ai in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing up).
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Tap Add. The app icon appears on your home screen.

On Android (Chrome):

  1. Open app.mymoneyright.ai in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App".
  4. Confirm by tapping Add or Install.

On Desktop (Chrome / Edge):

  1. Visit app.mymoneyright.ai.
  2. Click the install icon (a computer with a down-arrow) in the address bar, or go to the browser menu and click "Install My Money Right".
  3. Click Install. The app opens in its own window.
Tip: Once installed, the app works offline for basic viewing. Push notifications also require the app to be installed or the browser tab to be open.

After signing in for the first time, here's the recommended order to set things up:

  1. Add your bills — Go to Bills and add your recurring monthly bills (rent, utilities, subscriptions). This immediately populates your dashboard with upcoming due dates.
  2. Add your debts — Go to Debts and enter any loans, credit card balances, or other debts. The app will track balances and show estimated payoff dates.
  3. Set your budget — Go to Budget and enter your monthly income and spending targets by category.
  4. Start logging transactions — Add transactions manually or, if you're on Pro, connect your bank or import a CSV.
  5. Enable push notifications — In Settings → Notifications, enable push notifications so you're reminded of upcoming bill due dates.
Quick win: Even just adding your bills takes under 5 minutes and gives you an immediate picture of your upcoming financial obligations on the dashboard.
📊
Dashboard

The Dashboard is your home base — it pulls together your bills, debts, budget, and recent activity into one view so you always know where you stand.

My Money Right dashboard
The Dashboard gives you a real-time snapshot of your financial health.

Key sections you'll see on the dashboard:

  • Upcoming bills — Bills sorted by due date so you never get caught off guard.
  • Estimated balance — Your current account balance adjusted for bills coming due in the near term, giving you a forward-looking view of your cash position.
  • Debt summary — Total outstanding debt across all your tracked debts.
  • Budget progress — How much you've spent vs. your monthly budget targets by category.
  • Recent transactions — A quick view of your latest spending.
  • To-dos — Your pending financial tasks.

The Estimated Balance is a forward-looking view of your cash position. It starts with your current account balance and subtracts bills that are due in the upcoming period.

This is useful because it prevents you from thinking you have more money than you actually do — a $1,200 balance looks different when you know $900 in bills are due in the next two weeks.

The estimated balance updates automatically as you mark bills paid or add new ones. If you have bank sync enabled (Pro), it also reflects your live account balance from your connected bank.

Note: The estimated balance is an estimate — it doesn't know about unplanned expenses. Use it as a planning tool, not a guarantee.
📋
Bills
Bills management screen
The Bills page shows all your recurring expenses sorted by due date.

To add a bill, go to Bills in the navigation and click "+ Add Bill". You'll be prompted to enter:

  • Name — e.g. "Rent", "Electric", "Netflix"
  • Amount — the monthly cost
  • Due date — the day of the month it's due (e.g. the 1st, 15th)
  • Category — to group bills in your budget
  • Auto-pay — flag bills that are on auto-pay so you know they'll clear without action

Once added, bills appear on your Dashboard sorted by upcoming due date and are automatically included in your budget tracking. You can mark a bill as paid each month — it resets automatically for the next cycle.

Tip: For bills with variable amounts (like utilities), enter a typical or maximum amount so your budget isn't surprised.

My Money Right can send push notifications to remind you before a bill is due. To enable this:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications.
  2. Click Enable Push Notifications and allow the browser/app to send you notifications.

Once enabled, you'll receive a reminder a few days before each bill is due (for bills that aren't already marked as paid or on auto-pay). You'll also see a badge indicator on the Bills icon in the navigation when bills are pending or overdue.

Note: Push notifications require the app to be installed on your device or your browser to have notification permission granted. Some browsers (especially iOS Safari) handle this differently — installing the app to your home screen gives the most reliable notification experience.

The Free plan is limited to 3 bills and 3 debts to give you a chance to explore the app before committing. Once you hit the limit, the app will prompt you to upgrade to Pro.

Upgrading to Pro removes all limits — you can add as many bills and debts as you need. Pro costs $7/month and can be cancelled any time. To upgrade, go to Settings → Subscription and use the PayPal button.

On the Free plan? Prioritize your 3 slots for the bills you're most likely to miss — recurring subscriptions or utilities are good candidates since rent is usually memorable on its own.
💳
Debts
Debts tracking screen
The Debts page tracks all your outstanding balances in one place.

Go to Debts in the navigation and click "+ Add Debt". You can track any type of debt:

  • Credit card balances
  • Car loans
  • Student loans
  • Personal loans
  • Medical debt
  • Any other balance you owe

For each debt, you'll enter the balance, interest rate (APR), and minimum monthly payment. The app uses this to show estimated payoff dates and total interest cost.

As you make payments, you can log each payment directly from the debt's detail page — the balance updates and payoff projections recalculate automatically.

Clicking on any debt in the list opens its detail view, which gives you a deeper picture of that specific debt:

  • Current balance and payoff trajectory chart
  • Estimated payoff date based on your current payment rate
  • Total interest you'll pay if you continue at the minimum payment
  • Payment history — all payments you've logged against this debt
  • Extra payment simulator — see how much sooner you'd pay off the debt and how much interest you'd save by adding even $50/month extra

You can log a payment from this screen by clicking "Log Payment". The payment is recorded and the balance automatically updates.

Tip: Use the extra payment simulator to motivate yourself — seeing how a small extra payment shaves months off your payoff date is surprisingly powerful.

My Money Right tracks your debts individually rather than enforcing a single payoff strategy. You decide how much to put toward each debt and the app tracks your progress accordingly.

The two most popular strategies you can apply manually are:

  • Avalanche — Pay minimums on everything, then put all extra money toward the debt with the highest interest rate. Mathematically optimal — saves the most money in interest overall.
  • Snowball — Pay minimums on everything, then focus extra payments on the smallest balance first. Psychologically rewarding — you eliminate debts faster and build momentum.

The app's AI Advisor (Pro) can also analyze your specific debts and recommend which to prioritize — just ask it: "Which of my debts should I pay off first?"

Both methods work. The best strategy is the one you'll actually stick with. If you need motivation, try snowball. If you want to minimize interest, use avalanche.
💸
Transactions
Transactions screen
The Transactions page shows all your income and spending, sortable and filterable.

Go to Transactions and click "+ Add Transaction". Fill in:

  • Date — when the transaction occurred
  • Description — what it was for (e.g. "Grocery run", "Paycheck")
  • Amount — positive for income, negative for expenses (or the app may handle sign automatically)
  • Category and Subcategory — to organize spending for budget tracking
  • Account — if you have multiple accounts connected
  • Cleared — mark whether the transaction has cleared your account

Manually entered transactions are tagged with a 👤 icon so you can distinguish them from bank-synced or imported transactions.

Tip: You can set up auto-categorization rules in the Transactions settings — for example, "if description contains 'Spotify', categorize as Entertainment." This saves time when adding recurring purchases.

If your bank isn't supported by Teller bank sync, or if you prefer not to connect your bank, you can import a CSV exported from your bank's website.

To export from your bank: Log into your bank's website, go to your account activity, and look for a "Download" or "Export" option — most banks support CSV export. Download the file for the time period you want to import.

To import into My Money Right:

  1. Go to Transactions.
  2. Click the Import CSV button (near the top-right).
  3. Upload your CSV file.
  4. Map the columns — tell the app which column is the date, which is the amount, and which is the description.
  5. Review the preview and confirm the import.

Imported transactions are tagged with a 📄 icon. You can import from multiple banks by repeating this process.

Pro feature: CSV import is available on the Pro plan ($7/month). Upgrade here.

Bank sync automatically pulls your transactions directly from your bank — no manual entry or CSV uploads needed. It's powered by Teller, a secure bank connection service.

To connect your bank:

  1. Go to Transactions and click "+ Add Account" in the Bank Transactions section.
  2. A secure Teller window will open — search for your bank and follow the prompts to log in.
  3. Select the accounts you want to connect (checking, savings, credit cards).
  4. Once connected, your transactions will begin syncing automatically.

You can also connect via Settings → Bank Sync (Teller) and manage your connected accounts, give them nicknames, or disconnect them.

Bank sync is read-only — My Money Right can view your transactions and balance but cannot move money, make payments, or alter anything at your bank.

Supported banks: Teller supports thousands of US banks and credit unions including major national banks, regional banks, and most credit cards. If your bank isn't supported, CSV import works as a reliable alternative.
Pro feature: Bank sync requires a Pro subscription. Upgrade here.

Categorizing transactions is what makes budget tracking meaningful — each transaction maps to a category and subcategory, and the Budget page shows you exactly where your money is going.

You can set categories when adding a transaction, or edit them afterward. The app comes with built-in categories (Housing, Food, Transportation, Entertainment, etc.) and you can add your own custom categories and subcategories in Settings.

Auto-categorization rules save time for recurring transactions. To set one up:

  1. Go to Transactions and open the Auto-Rules panel.
  2. Click "+ Add Rule".
  3. Enter a description keyword (e.g. "Netflix") and assign it a category.
  4. Save — future transactions matching that keyword will be auto-categorized.
Tip: Bank-synced transactions often come in with merchant names as descriptions (e.g. "NETFLIX.COM"). Setting up a rule for these means you'll rarely need to manually categorize synced transactions.
📅
Budget
Budget tracking screen
The Budget page shows your spending vs. targets for each category this month.

Go to Budget and set your monthly income and your spending targets for each category. You don't need to fill in every category — just the ones where you want to track spending.

As you add or import transactions throughout the month, the Budget page automatically updates to show how much you've spent vs. your target in each category. Categories over budget show in red; categories on track show in green.

Tip: Start with your biggest categories — Housing, Food, Transportation — and add more detail as you go. A rough budget tracked consistently beats a precise budget you abandon.

Budget targets are set once and apply month to month — you don't need to re-enter them each month. The app automatically tracks the current calendar month and resets spending totals at the start of each new month.

You can also view historical months to see how your spending compared to your budget in past months — useful for spotting patterns or categories where you consistently go over.

Bills are automatically included in budget tracking if they have a category assigned. This means as soon as you mark a bill as paid, it shows up in the corresponding budget category for the month.

Note: Budget tracking is only as accurate as your transaction data. If you're on the Free plan and entering transactions manually, it's important to stay consistent — logging transactions a couple of times per week gives you a realistic picture.

AI Advisor
AI financial advisor chat
The AI advisor answers questions about your actual finances, not just generic advice.

The AI Advisor is a conversational financial assistant that has access to your actual financial data — your bills, debts, transactions, and budget. This makes its advice specific to you, not just generic tips.

Things you can ask it:

  • "How much did I spend on food last month?"
  • "Which of my debts should I pay off first?"
  • "Am I on track with my budget this month?"
  • "What would happen if I paid an extra $200/month on my car loan?"
  • "What bills are coming up this week?"
  • "Can you explain what APR means?"
  • "Give me tips for reducing my grocery spending."

The AI advisor also generates a monthly financial report (PDF) summarizing your spending, savings, and debt payoff progress for the month.

Pro feature: The AI advisor is included in the Pro plan at no extra cost — no API key of your own needed. Upgrade here.

No. The AI advisor is built into the Pro plan and works out of the box. You don't need to create an account with OpenAI, Google, or Anthropic, and you don't need to supply or pay for any API key separately.

However, if you prefer a specific AI provider or want extended usage beyond what's included, you can optionally bring your own API key from:

  • OpenAI (GPT-4 and newer)
  • Google Gemini
  • Anthropic Claude

To add your own key, go to Settings → AI Advisor and enter your API key. When a custom key is set, the app uses your key (and your account's credits) instead of the built-in one.

Tip: Most Pro users never need to bring their own key — the built-in AI handles everyday financial questions with no extra setup.

At the end of each month, the AI Advisor can generate a PDF financial report summarizing your financial activity for the month. It includes:

  • Total income vs. spending breakdown by category
  • Budget performance — categories over and under target
  • Debt payoff progress for the month
  • Bills paid on time vs. overdue
  • AI-generated insights and recommendations based on your specific numbers

To generate a report, open the AI Advisor chat and ask: "Generate my monthly report" or "Create a PDF summary of this month." The report is generated and can be downloaded or saved.

Pro feature: Monthly PDF reports are a Pro-only feature. Upgrade to Pro.

Documents & Correspondence

The Correspondence section (also called the document vault) is a secure place to store financial documents — bank statements, loan agreements, insurance policies, tax documents, or anything else you want to keep organized alongside your financial data.

Documents are stored securely and are only accessible to you when logged in. You can:

  • Upload documents directly from your device
  • Email documents directly into your vault (see: Emailing documents into the app)
  • View, download, or delete stored documents
  • Organize documents with labels or notes

The document vault is especially useful for keeping important financial paperwork accessible from any device without relying on physical files or scattered cloud storage.

Pro feature: The document vault is available on Pro. Upgrade here.

My Money Right gives each Pro account a unique personal email address you can forward documents to. Anything you send to that address goes directly into your document vault.

This is handy when you receive financial documents by email — statements, bills, notices — that you'd otherwise have to download and re-upload.

To find your personal vault email address:

  1. Go to Correspondence in the navigation.
  2. Look for your email-in address at the top of the page (it will look like a unique address at mymoneyright.ai).
  3. Forward financial emails to that address from any email client — they'll appear in your vault within a few minutes.
Tip: Forward bank statements, loan payoff letters, or insurance documents to your vault email so everything is in one place when you need it.
⚙️
Account & Settings

Upgrading to Pro is done directly through PayPal — no separate payment method setup required.

  1. Open the app and go to Settings → Subscription.
  2. Click the PayPal Subscribe button.
  3. Log in to (or create) a PayPal account and confirm the $7/month subscription.
  4. You'll be redirected back to the app, where your Pro plan activates instantly.

All your existing data carries over — nothing is lost when you upgrade. Pro features unlock immediately after payment is confirmed.

You can also upgrade from the homepage: go to mymoneyright.ai → Subscribe and use the PayPal button there. You'll be prompted to sign in after payment to activate your plan.

Because billing is handled by PayPal, cancellation is done through your PayPal account — not through the My Money Right app.

  1. Log into paypal.com.
  2. Go to Settings → Payments → Manage Automatic Payments.
  3. Find My Money Right in the list and click Cancel.

Cancellation takes about 30 seconds and you don't need to contact support. After cancellation, your account moves to the Free plan at the end of your current billing period. Your data is not deleted — you keep access to your dashboard, bills, and debts on the Free tier.

Note: Pro features (bank sync, AI, documents, CSV import) become unavailable after your subscription ends, but all the data you've entered remains intact.

My Money Right can sync your financial to-dos with Google Tasks — tasks you create in the app appear in Google Tasks, and checking them off in either place marks them done in both.

To enable the sync:

  1. Go to Settings → Google Tasks.
  2. Click Connect Google Tasks and authorize the connection with your Google account.
  3. Once connected, new to-dos created in My Money Right will sync to a dedicated list in Google Tasks.

This is useful if you already live in Google Tasks for your general task management — your financial tasks stay in the same place as everything else.

Pro feature: Google Tasks sync is a Pro-only feature. Upgrade here.

Push notifications alert you to upcoming bill due dates so you're never caught off guard. They're available on the Free plan.

To enable notifications:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications.
  2. Click Enable Push Notifications.
  3. When your browser or phone prompts you to "Allow" notifications from My Money Right, click Allow.

To disable notifications, click Disable Push Notifications in the same section.

Best experience on mobile: Install the app to your home screen first (see: Installing the app on your phone or desktop), then enable notifications. This gives you native notification behavior on iPhone and Android.
iPhone note: iOS requires the app to be installed to the home screen (as a PWA) before push notifications can be enabled. Notifications won't work from Safari's regular browser tab on iOS.
🔒
Privacy & Security

No — never. Bank sync via Teller is strictly read-only. My Money Right can see your transactions and balances, but it cannot initiate transfers, make payments, or change anything at your bank. It is a viewer, not an actor.

The Teller API connection used by My Money Right does not have write access to your accounts. Even if the app were somehow compromised, it would be technically impossible for it to move your money.

Bottom line: Connecting your bank is safe. Think of it like giving the app read access to your bank statement — it can see the numbers, but can't touch them.

Yes. My Money Right is built with security as a core requirement. Key protections in place:

  • HTTPS everywhere: All traffic is encrypted in transit using TLS. HTTP is redirected to HTTPS automatically.
  • Google OAuth: We never store your password — authentication is handled entirely by Google's identity platform.
  • Data isolation: Every database query is scoped to your user ID. It is architecturally impossible for your data to be accessed by another user.
  • No data selling: We do not share, sell, or disclose your data to third parties for advertising or any purpose other than operating the app.
  • Regular backups: Your data is backed up regularly to a separate location.
  • SQL injection prevention: Parameterized queries are used throughout — no raw string interpolation into SQL.

For the full security policy, see security.mymoneyright.ai/security.html.

Your data belongs to you. You can export your transaction history as a CSV from the Transactions page at any time — on both Free and Pro plans.

If you want to delete your account and all associated data, contact us at support@mymoneyright.ai with your request. We'll delete everything within 30 days and send confirmation.

When you cancel a Pro subscription, your account moves to the Free plan — your data is not automatically deleted. Data deletion only happens on explicit request.
